Second World War “Yellow Wings” aircraft flights start
June 6 at Canada Aviation and Space Museum

Flights operated by Vintage Wings of Canada

June 4, 2015 – Visitors to Ottawa’s Canada Aviation and Space Museum will have the opportunity to experience flights aboard legendary “Yellow Wings” aircraft from the Second World War, including the Fleet Finch, Harvard IV, de Havilland Chipmunk and Fleet Cornell.

The flights, operated by Vintage Wings of Canada, will be offered on weekends throughout the summer starting June 6th at the Museum, located at 11 Aviation Parkway in Ottawa. The launch of the Museum’s 2015 flight experience program takes place this weekend in conjunction with its participation in Doors Open Ottawa.

The Yellow Wings flights are a wonderful complement to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum’s exhibit on the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, a little-known aspect of Canada’s history when ordinary citizens from coast to coast came together in what became known as the “Aerodrome of Democracy” to train hundreds of thousands of aviators from Canada, the British Commonwealth and the U.S., in the effort to win the Second World War.

Yellow Wings flights are conditional on good weather conditions and aircraft availability. Visitors who wish to ride in the aircraft must be members of Vintage Wings of Canada. Memberships are available to anyone when arranging a flight. For more information about becoming a member and arranging flights, please visit www.vintagewingsmembers.ca or call (819) 669-9603.
