This September 14-15, Vintage Wings of Canada will host the Wings over Gatineau-Ottawa en vol air show at the Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport. We need your help to make it safe, enjoyable and memorable for the many thousands of spectators we expect. Our team of dedicated volunteers work hard to make Vintage Wings the most friendly, best run and most knowledgeable outfits in the historic aircraft world and this extends to our premier event.
But we can't do it alone! Our air show event has become so successful that we need more people than ever before to help us during these two days of aerial fun. That's where you, your family and your friends come in!
Calling all Volunteers
If you want to be part of one of the most exciting things to happen in Ottawa/Gatineau this year, but can only devote a couple of days, have we got a job for you! We need willing and committed volunteers to help us celebrate the history of aviation in Canada and we think you've got what it takes. All you have to do is click on this VOLUNTEER LINK and fill out the on-line form, then click Submit to send it to us. Be sure and mention that it is for the Air Show Volunteer Team in the "Availability" box.
When you click Submit, you will instantly become one of an elite cadre of Volunteers who will help us bring off a world class aviation event this September. We are in need of men and women, young and old, who can assist us with crowd control, aircraft security, field maintenance, sales, recycling and the many other jobs necessary to ensure a safe and exciting show. Of course there will be a training session with our Vintage Wings of Canada staff, most of whom are volunteers like you. This is a serious job that's lots of fun, so bring your commitment and we will bring the rest.
Vintage Wings of Canada team members are the envy of aviation enthusiasts the world over. Our reputation is built on the friendliness, commitment and hard work of hundreds of truly committed volunteers. They are the backbone of who we are. Why not come out for these two events and see if you want to bring even more commitment to the airfield. It's a great way to fulfill your volunteer needs, have fun, meet interesting people and truly say you are part of a world class endeavour. Studies have shown that Vintage Wings volunteers have greater success with the opposite sex, get the best employment opportunities, look better, feel better and have better luck at the casino than all other types. Really.. studies have proven it!
OK, maybe that's not true, but you will get a free t-shirt that will make you the envy of your friends, get fed with gourmet burgers, haut dogues (that's a gourmet hot dog), be refreshed with drinks and water throughout the day, and come away with a new sense of pride and self-fulfillment. Be part of a team of volunteers that includes some of the countries finest aviators including Canadian astronauts Chris Hadfield and Jeremy Hansen. So, step up to the volunteer line and let's get the show on the road!

Nearly all the wonderful things that make living in our home town not only bearable, but worthwhile and enjoyable – the music festivals, the kids hockey tournaments, the botanical gardens, the theatre groups AND the air shows, – are created by and operated by volunteers – ordinary citizens like you and me who find, in their hearts and schedules, the time to make things happen that would not otherwise take place. These great things in our community – the cultural events, colourful tributes, communal places and neighbourhood welcomes – these are not the purview of some external agency, some benevolent organization. These are not things that OTHER people do for us, these are things WE do for our community. If it's good for our communities, if it is the right thing to do, then it is up to us and only us to ensure that it gets done.
The guys parking cars at our air show, the couple organizing a soccer tournament or the young kids serving up meals to other volunteers at a major music festival like ours – they all understand this. However, most Canadians do no volunteering whatsoever and are free to “comment” on the experience of a festival or a tournament, offering up their wisdom to friends and the public on Facebook or the Twitterverse about how they didn't like this or that, or worse, how they would have done it differently and better. Their “advice” is always critical and never would they even consider to step up to the plate and put their time and ideas to good use, actually helping.
Thank God we have people like you that can help us make this exciting event happen.
So sign up today! Become part of a team, a squadron, a legend!
