Warbird University - No Frills

Just say No to Frills, Yes to Thrills

Are you the kind of person that just wants the sweet, sweet marshmallow inside a Chocolate Whippet, but not all that fancy-pants chocolate on the outside? Maybe you're the one who might say “Don't sugar coat it Doc, give it to me straight up. How long do I have to live?”.  Or perhaps you have said to yourself, “I don't need a degree, I just need the knowledge, so why don't they let me audit Oxford University”? Maybe you, like me, throw dimes around like they were manhole covers and can't see paying for the frills, just the thrills of being present at the world's most talked about warbird technical training events - the Warbird U Technical Ground Schools from Vintage Wings of Canada.

For three seasons now we have heard the disappointment in the voices of hundreds of folks who want to attend Warbird U technical ground schools, but are simply on a tight budget. So many aviation and history students or retired fixed-incomers have said to me, "I have the time and the passion for it, but I don't have the big bucks.”

We'll, we've been listening! Now we are offering the general public the same Warbird U courses at extreme discounts just by eliminating the frills such as meals, photo ops, certificates, walk-arounds and cockpit check outs. Vintage Wings of Canada is proud to introduce “Warbird U - No Frills”. There was a faction here at Vintage Wings that preferred the program name "Warbird U Light”, but the truth is, there is nothing light about it. You still get the steady stream in inside “gen” from the best warbird pilots in the country about systems, handling characteristics, history, weapons systems and much more. You get all the info, and just bring your own lunch. It's still two days on a steady diet of warbird operational insights you won't get anywhere else. I've been to these events before and the two days of high level instruction is the real meat and potatoes of Warbird U... the part you don't get is the candied yams and cranberry sauce!

You get absolutely all the knowledge and the camaraderie PLUS

A.       Warbird U CD for the airplane being taught, which contains manuals, publications, pictures etc
B.      Admission to the CASM’s new theatre for all of the ground school sessions all day Saturday and on Sunday morning.
C.      Free coffee & tea all day Saturday and Sunday Morning
D.      Light refreshments during the break - Muffins etc.
E.      The chance to eat a delicious lunch that you have prepared and brought with you.
F.       A free guided tour of the Vintage Wings of Canada collection on Sunday afternoon,
G.      A chance to purchase some of our stylin' merchandise at the end of your tour at our VW Gear-Up store,
H.      The most “dashing, handsome and knowledgeable instructors” ever to grace the face of the earth,
I.       The best time of your entire life
J.      A swagger you can't explain - that would be a $250 swagger for just $50.00!!!

What you won’t get at Warbird No- Frills is:

a.       No Box Lunches, so the “No-Frills” group will have to bring their own lunch or purchase lunch at the CASM’s canteen,
b.      No Walk around or cockpit tour of the actual aircraft with your warbird pilot instructor,
c.      No “Hero Shot” taken by one of Vintage Wings' own pro photographers
d.      No post-course Certificate (but you can buy a t-shirt that says... Been there, done that)

If you want to know all there is to know about Warbird U and the remaining three “S”courses - Spitfire, Sabre and Swordfish, all you have to do is click on the link in each class below.

You can register here for Warbird U PLUS courses where you get all the bells and whistles - There are not many who can say they had a cockpit check-out in a Spitfire, Sabre or Swordfish and we can provide the proof in the form of cockpit "hero” photos and certificates of course completion.

Or you can register here as well for Warbird U NO-FRILLS.
It's up to you.

Either way, your weekend ground school will be something you will remember for the rest of your life and elevate your coolness factor by a factor of 10.
